Can you believe one month from now 2024 will be half over?! Time is flying. Some days, I want it to slow down. You know I like to talk about creating a quieter, simpler life. At other times, with all the craziness in the world, I want to speed right on through. To what? Well, perhaps to a quieter and simpler life, for starters.
Also, we all remember a time not long ago, when we weren’t spending so much on groceries, the electric bill, insurance, everything. It’d be nice to speed through to a break in inflation—because we need a break right now.
This year, I’ve been listening, on repeat, to the album Come Up Here. I listen to a wide range of worship music. As a former worship pastor, I learned to stay open to artists or songs God uses to inspire worship and glorify Him.
In previous editions of The Fast 5, I’ve shared other songs off this album. Recently, I’ve been captivated by the song linked below. I don’t know how I missed it, but the lyrics of The Great Beyond hold a message for the season we are in. It’s a season of hard things, including needing a break from excessive inflation.

The message of this song is burning in my heart. It has ruined me (in a good way). I cannot stop listening. Despite all we see happening around us, hope is still alive. We need not be afraid or concerned. God is still in control.
Yes, we could all use a break about now, but even if it doesn’t come like or when we want it—we can depend on this. His love always breaks through, when we lift our hearts to Him!
